"We don't have power. No water. And the phone lines are down. But the PORTA CAGE is STILL standing!"    Coach Joe Mihalek, after Hurricane Marilyn, 1994
When Coach Joe Mihalek bought the first of two PORTA CAGES for his Complete Baseball Camp in 1993, little did he know what lay in store for him or his cages to come. Located in the US Virgin Islands, Coach Mihalek teaches baseball year 'round. His PORTA CAGES work year 'round also. Coach 'Joe' is very pleased with the service he gets from his units.

But in 1994, when Hurricane Marilyn roared through the islands, not even Mihalek could envision what might happen to his batting cage. He could have taken it down, but the winds came up too fast for him to do so.

Complete Baseball Camp
Left out on the practice field, the PORTA CAGE endured heavy rain and winds up to 120 mph. When Marilyn cleared out, Mihalek's teaching camp was left in total disarray.

Yet, through it all, the Porta Cage was still standing. Unharmed. On a postcard, Coach Mihalek wrote: "We don't have power. No water. And the phone lines are down. But the PORTA CAGE is STILL standing! Tomorrow, we go back to practice."

He found his batting cage out in centerfield up against a fence. Lonely, but ready for action. Incredibly, Mihalek's first PORTA CAGE endured two major hurricanes, Marilyn in 94, George in 98. A second unit purchased in 1996 survived hurricane George.

The PORTA CAGE is tough. Not every unit is going to withstand every hurricane or other acts of nature, but every PORTA CAGE sold since 1993 is still in service. Pretty good track record...

Just ask Coach Joe ...
